I sometimes feel kicks and then nothing for a whole day. Is this normal or should I be tracking every movement?
At 22 weeks baby movement is still irregular — the guidelines for kick counting (10 movements in 2 hours) typically apply from 28 weeks onwards. At 22 weeks, babies sleep in cycles of 20–40 minutes, so a quiet day is usually just a sleepy baby. If you don't feel any movement for more than 24 hours after 24 weeks, contact your doctor.
I was paranoid about the same thing at that stage! My doctor said at 22 weeks the baby is still small enough that many movements aren't felt. Lying on your left side after a cold glass of juice often gets them moving. Don't stress — formal kick counting begins later.
