I used to rely on 2–3 cups of chai daily. Now I've cut it down and I'm exhausted by noon. Any safe energy tips?
You don't have to eliminate caffeine entirely — up to 200mg per day is considered safe during pregnancy. That's roughly one cup of regular tea or coffee. For energy, focus on iron-rich foods (spinach, lentils, dates) since anaemia is a huge cause of first-trimester fatigue. Short walks in sunlight also help reset your body clock.
Protein at every meal was a game changer for me. I'd eat a handful of almonds or have curd with lunch and it sustained my energy much better than caffeine ever did. Also, napping for 20 minutes after lunch without guilt — growing a human is hard work and rest IS productive!
I switched to decaf chai and honestly couldn't tell the difference in taste. The ritual of making a hot drink was half of what I needed. Also drinking 3+ litres of water daily helped — dehydration makes fatigue so much worse during pregnancy.
