I'm 8 weeks and dying to tell everyone but my husband wants to wait until 12 weeks. Who's right?
Medically, most miscarriages happen before 12 weeks, which is why the first-trimester mark is a common milestone for announcements — by then the risk drops significantly. But 'right time' is entirely personal. Some people tell close family earlier for support if something goes wrong (you'd want them to know anyway), and save the wide announcement for after 12 weeks. Your husband's instinct is understandable but so is your excitement — there's no wrong answer here.
I told my mom and best friend at 6 weeks because I needed emotional support through the anxiety of the first trimester. Kept it just between us until the 12-week scan showed all clear. Then announced to everyone else. That middle-ground worked perfectly — I had people who knew but it didn't feel public before we were ready.
