- Red lentils (masoor dal) – 1/2 cup
- Onion, chopped – 1/4 cup
- Tomato, chopped – 1/2 cup
- Garlic, minced – 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
- Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp
- Black pepper – 1/4 tsp
- Ghee/olive oil – 1 tbsp
- Salt – to taste
